In the joint project GEVAKUB, the University of Regensburg, the Berlin University of Applied Sciences and Technology, and the University of Bayreuth investigated how cultural educational offerings can be made accessible as a participatory, social experience in virtual spaces.

The project developed guidelines for the use of virtual realities to create cultural learning spaces and didactically based design guidelines for intrinsically motivated learning and transfer activities. Virtual learning spaces that can be experienced together were implemented as examples in order to empirically evaluate systematically developed design hypotheses. From this, guidelines were developed for the design of shared learning spaces, for directing attention through 360° interfaces and for the presentation of multimodal content in virtual learning spaces.
